2008 GHS Fillies in
Championship Form
The Grapevine High School Fillies Varsity Dance Team concluded their 2008 competition season in championship form. The Fillies received top honors in the Super Team category (50 + members) as well as outstanding overall recognition at the recent M.A. Dance National Competition.
The team competed against over 100 teams from around the

for their
In national officer competition, the Fillies Dance Officers competed in the Super Team category representing officer groups from teams with 50+ members. The officers are also required to compete in three dance divisions in order to be eligible for overall sweepstakes recognition. In category competition, the officers received national championship category recognition for their first places finishes in all three dance divisions:
1st Place Officer Modern to “All Neon Like”, 1st Place Officer Hip Hop to “Gino’s Dance Crew”, and 1st Place Officer Jazz to “Ruby Blue”. In addition, the officers received National Officer Winners’ Circle and Top 5 Dance Technique Award in overall competition. The 2008 Officers ranked 3rd out of all of the competing officer groups, representing the highest finish in history among the Fillies Officers groups in national officer competition. The Fillies Officers are Jessica Jelinek, Captain; Christine Hannah, Sr. Lieutenant; Kathryn Renfro, Sr. Lieutenant; Kelsey White, Sr. Lieutenant; Kristyn Popp, Sr. Lieutanant; Laurel Rushton, Jr. Lieutenant, and Rachel Toney, Sr. Lieutenant. The Fillies are under the direction of Kay Lynn Renfro, assisted by Assistant Director Emily Mentlik, and 2007-08 guest choreographers Carla Birmingham, Gino Johnson, and Mollea Harrison.
