Comments from GHS dad Ed Bassett after his first Grateful Dads Assignment:

"Thanks Jerry for organizing all of this.  It was LOTS of fun.  I expected it to be, but it was even more than that! I was really surprised at how receptive the students are to the Grateful Dads, I expected the occasional “teen” attitude but did not receive or even see that from ONE of the students.  In fact it was the complete opposite, they were VERY receptive and seemed pleased for us to be there. Great idea and excellent execution."

Regards, Ed Bassett

The mission of the Grateful Dads is to meet and greet as many students as we can on Friday mornings to start their day off in a positive way with a handshake, smile, pat on the back and/or “have a great day greeting”! That’is it, very simple.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Grateful DADS, please contact Jerry Sklar at: sklar.family@verizon.net or Dallas Renfro-GHS at dallas.renfro@gcisd.net

FRIDAY SCHEDULE:

7:45am: Meet inside the front administration office of GHS (through the doors of station 2). Dallas Renfro (GHS Student Services) Program Coordinator will be there to greet you. Dallas will hand out Grateful Dad T-shirts for you to wear over your shirt to distinguish you as a Grateful Dad Volunteer. The T-shirts are all either XL or XXL so they should slide on easily over whatever you are wearing for the day. Dallas will also ensure you know how to get to your assigned station. We are also in the process of having name badges for all of you as well.

7:55 thru 8:30am: Meet and greet the students entering the school from your assigned station. Be creative but most importantly have fun!! There are two dads assigned to each of the three stations.

8:30 thru 8:45am: Return to the front office where you started the morning and have a quick coffee with Dr. Hollingsworth.

8:45am:
off to your next stop of the day.
