Who:      Grapevine High School 9th – 12th grade students

What:     2007/2008 National Reflections Arts Program

Where:  GHS, 3223 Mustang Drive Grapevine, Texas

When:    Local GHS/GCISD deadline – October 19, 2007

Why:          Artistic opportunity for students to express themselves creatively in six arts categories: dance/choreography,
film/video production, literature, music composition, photography, visual

"I Can Make A Difference By........"  is the theme for the 2007/2008 Reflections arts program. Reflections is a national PTA sponsored, arts recognition and achievement program for students at all grade levels.  Students are encouraged to creatively express themselves through several areas including Dance Choreography, Film/Video Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography,  and Visual Arts.

The goal of the Reflections program is participation; winning is not the emphasis.  All students have the ability to create a work of art and this program gives them a chance to experiment with the theme and to discover and express themselves.  The categories encompass several art disciplines and each discipline has a variety of art forms.  For example, the visual arts category includes drawing, painting, collage, metal etching, fiber work and computer-generated artwork.  Literature entries can be fiction or nonfiction and include prose, poetry and drama.  The new Film/Video Production category must be the original work of one person using such styles as animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or media presentation with computer.  The Dance Choreography entry must be the original choreographic work of one student only and there may be up to three dancers performing the choreography.

Official entry forms and participation rules are now avaiable in the GHS office.   Link to basic entry form.
Information can also be downloaded from the Texas PTA website [ http://www.txpta.org/ ]

All entries must be newly created by one student and must be inspired by this year’s theme – “I Can Make A Difference By...”   Students may submit as many entries as they would like which will be judged by professional North Texas artists.
